travel: taichung, taiwan

Part of the Tainan Trip was a visit to Providence University, to some of our friends there.

  • On the restaurant hub near Providence — we went to an “Italian” restaurant with the bear. The bear adorable, the ambiance great, but the food quite dull. Note to self: never eat European in Taiwan.
  • On artisinal cakes — There are a lot of bakeries with artisinal cakes in Taichung. I noticed this in Kaohsiung too. And by a lot I mean more than average that one sees on the city streets of Phl.
  • On bus rides — Bus rides in Taichung are much like bus rides in PH – no specific sched, first come first served, cramped, and limited. The only difference is that buses in Taiwan are much cleaner and more properly maintained than in PH.
  • On Gaiomei wetlands — What struck me was the mass of people. But once you see the view and the sunset, believe me, the crowd won’t matter. Walking towards the mills was the most calming thing ever, despite the people — the sand was soft on your feet and the water temperature, just right. The place was perfect for silhouette shots!
