travel: tainan, taiwan

There were 2 instances that we visited Tainan. First was with our lone Filipino mentor to see some landmarks. The other was with our friends from NSYSU taking Masters in HR (see trip to NCKU). In both instances we took the train to Tainan. Also in both instances we had limited budget but went back to Kaohsiung fully satisfied.

Places we visited: Anping Tree-house, Calligraphy museum, Some Buddhist Temple, Old Street, Confucius’ Temple, National Taiwan Museum of Literature, South Park, Shopping District. The city struck me as having an omnipresent chill vibe that is much more than that of Kaohsiung.

Tainan is also known as Taiwan’s food capital. Here you can find different types of food not readily available in other parts of Taiwan. They would also say the cooking is better or it’s much fresher in Tainan. The Eel noodle is an example. Though we were not able to try the eel noodle (much due to budget limit), we still went home satisfied and with full stomachs. For me the highlight was the ice cream puffs at Eva and the goodbyes along with it.
